Pitcher Brian Wilson may have won the hearts of San Francisco Giants fans when he closed out Game Five of the 2010 World Series, but it is his eccentric off-field antics and quirky, left-field humour that have seen him become a household name across America.
Publicly endorsed by man-of-the-moment Charlie Sheen, who described the 29-year-old as an “awesome Vatican assassin” in February, Wilson is a self-proclaimed “certified ninja” while his trademark beard alone commands nearly 9,000 followers on Twitter.
